Why Commission an original portrait

If you are here, you are considering commissioning an original portrait of your child. It will likely be hang up in the family room, and be a great talking piece when friends come to visit. A painting captures your child’s image differently from a photograph would. As it comes to life brush stroke by brush stroke, it is organic and visceral. If this is the first time you are commissioning a piece of art, please be aware that each artist has their own unique style. Please make sure you are choosing the artist based on the styles that you like.

commission limitations

Portraits are based on reference photos. In order to have a high quality portrait painting, high quality and high resolution reference photos are required. Currently I am only accepting local commissions in the Great Boston Area. Please be advised that I may not be able to accept all commission inquiries.

Process, Pricing, timeline & Delivery

Please reach out to me for a complimentary discussion of what you would like. We will review the reference photos to see if they are of acceptable quality to work from. Once we have decided to move forward, a non-refundable retainer deposit of 25% is required. I may start purchasing material and working on the piece after receipt of this deposit. If you decide to not move forward at a later time, this deposit is not refundable. Upon completion of the piece, the remaining amount is due prior to or at the time of delivery.

Current expected completion time from when commission is accepted is 6-8 weeks.
Currently accepting commissions up to 11” x 14” through December 1st. Larger options are on a limited basis. If you need a piece completed before the holidays, please place your order before October 15th.
